Diablo IV
The positive reaction to Blizzard’s recent beta has reassured players that their anticipation has been worth the wait. Featuring a limited pool of the game’s classes, including a Barbarian, Rogue, and Sorcerer, the two-weekend beta allowed players to play up to level 25. After 11 years of waiting, Diablo IV has some big shoes to fill. The full game launches in June.
Final Fantasy XVI
The long-awaited follow-up to 2016’s Final Fantasy XV is nearly upon us. Taking cues from Devil May Cry, the gameplay will be more action-oriented than ever, while the story and world-building appear to be taking cues from Game of Thrones. Follow protagonist Clive Rosfield on his journey through the world of Valisthea when Final Fantasy XVI drops as a PS5 timed exclusive in June.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor
Jedi: Fallen Order was a surprise hit in 2019. The blend of combat, exploration, Metroid-style progression, and original storytelling became an immediate hit for Star Wars fans. Jedi: Survivor continues Cal Kestis’ story while promising a host of innovations and improvements. If you’re in the mood for a new Star Wars game, look no further when Jedi: Survivor launches on April 28.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
2017’s Breath of the Wild set a new standard for open-world games and Zelda titles, with many hailing it as one of the best Zelda games to date. With a host of innovations and surprises, Nintendo’s latest first-party title is sure to be one of 2023’s most-discussed games. Switch owners won’t want to miss this when it drops on May 12th.
Alan Wake 2
The fate of Alan Wake 2 has been an uncertain thing for a while now, but it seems the wait is finally over. The sequel to Remedy’s 2010 cult action-horror hit appears to almost be with us, though it has no fixed date. Stay tuned for another unique dose of atmospheric horror, which will hopefully be with us in 2023.
Baldur’s Gate III
More than 20 years after Baldur’s Gate II, acclaimed Divinity developer Larian Studios is set to release the full version of Baldur’s Gate III, following a lengthy Early Access period. With an emphasis on writing, questing, and deep tactical combat, fans of RPGs rich with content won’t want to miss this when it finally launches in August this year.
